Dickinson students are free to choose from a broad range of courses in the liberal arts with more than 40 majors, plus interdisciplinary, certificate and self-developed options. They develop intellectual independence, the ability to chart their own courses and the desire to continue learning. Dickinsonians engage in debate and discussion, workshops, studio work and research individually, in groups and with faculty. A Dickinson education is closely connected to the wider world, providing opportunities for fieldwork, study abroad and service learning. The curriculum combines traditional liberal-arts disciplines with innovative new programs in fields ranging from neuroscience to security studies, from environmental studies to theatre & dance. We measure the success of our programs through our students' placement and achievement in graduate and professional schools, the fellowships and scholarships they win, their career choices and accomplishments and their contributions as global citizens.
